I hope everyone had a fantastic Father's Day, especially those dad's celebrating their first one. Jack made some pictures of his hand and feet prints to give as gifts. He's such a nice baby!
I was surprised they turned out so well. We made 4 total and they all turned out great. I was able to get the ink prints on my own without any help and I did all 4 at the same time. I'll definitely be doing it every year so I can see the changes.
We went to the park first thing in the morning to take some pictures before it got too hot. My dad got some great pics, but he hasn't given them to me yet. I'll post a few once I get them. Here's a couple I took:
Jack is starting to sit up so good now. I can't believe it! Most of the pictures of him sitting have my knee in the background. I made sure I was close by since he is still wobbly. I did have to catch him a few times, but he did amazingly well! He also loved the grass so it was a good distraction!
When we got home I gave Jack some frozen banana for a refreshing treat. He loves it!
He was a huge mess, but he really enjoyed it. I'll have to freeze some apple slices to try in the feeder next. Yesterday I made a batch of apples and carrots. I boiled the apples and pureed them with the water they cooked in. It's basically like appleseauce. For the carrots, I steamed them but had to use fresh water for pureeing them. It's recommended that you toss the water they cook in because of the Nitrates. Here is what wholesome baby food says:
"Do not reserve any leftover water to use for thinning out the carrots if baby is under 8 months old as Nitrates may seep into the cooking water."

I gave Jack some of the apples last night and he wasn't too sure about them. He ate what I gave him, but he kept making funny faces. He just needs to get used to the new flavor. I froze all of the carrot puree in ice cube trays and we'll try that at the end of the week. I'm not a big fan of carrots though and they tasted really gross. I had my dad try them to be sure, and he said that's what carrots are supposed to taste like. Ewww! I'm thinking that if there's one thing he ends up not liking, it'll be the carrots. We'll see! I think after the apples and carrots we'll try avocado and then green beans. There are a lot more options when making your own food as opposed to jarred food. I love it!
I hope everyone has a wonderful week. I can't believe my baby will be half a year old in 2 days!
