If anyone out there knows anything about cloth diapers...HELP! I'm overwhelmed and don't know anything. I have no idea what a prefold is or any of the other terms associated with cloth diapering. I also don't know where to shop for the items I need. I know Target doesn't sell what I would want. But then again, I don't know what I want because I don't know what anything is! I've done some internet research and mostly I'm just confused and overwhelmed. I would like to buy what I need this weekend or by the end of the week if I buy online. I need to find a website that spells it out for me.
On a happier note, Peas are a success!
It kind of looks like green slime, but he loved it! I wonder if I'll find a food this boy doesn't like. I'm thinking not. I cooked a bag of frozen organic green peas on the stovetop (followed the instructions on the bag) and pureeed them with about a cup of water. Because of the skins, I did have to push them through a mesh strainer. This part was a pain. I could only do a little at a time and you have to push the food through with the back of a spoon. Obviously you need a bowl underneath the strainer to catch the good stuff. One bag made 5 servings and it turned out to be a very nice creamy puree. I'll definitely be making more soon. This weekend I'll be making apples and carrots. I need more freezer space!
I know I've mentioned how lucky I got with Jack's daycare. The woman who watches him is wonderful and she definitely loves him. On occasion, when I've gone to pick him up, her house smells wonderful with whatever she's making for dinner. 3 or 4 times she has sent me home with a container of food. Being a working mom who eats alone, I rarely cook during the week and usually opt for a frozen dinner. So I greatly welcome a home-cooked meal, especially one I don't have to cook my self! Yesterday she made homemade pea soup and when I mentioned how great it smelled, she packaged me up some. What a nice, unexpected treat. Jack and I both enjoyed peas last night. :) It's funny though because she tells me, "It's very healthy. It's good for Jack." Since I breastfeed and all. A couple of weeks ago a cashier at a sub shop gave Jack a free cookie, not realizing he is too little for such things. That's ok, mommy ate it! It turns out Jack is good at getting me yummy food. Thanks, little buddy!
I gotta give a big shout-out to Emily for removing the date stamp on my favorite picture. Thanks so much for taking the time to do that! I've added it to my pictures on the left. Love it!
Alright, I gotta get back to work. Happy Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!!!
I have been a little hesitant to try peas, but now have a glimmer of hope that B might actually like them. Thanks Jack! Sounds like he is a good eater too, that's great!
It sounds like you're doing great with the food making. Props girl!
The woman who wrote this post did Asher's newborn photos. I check out her blog every once in awhile and thought of you when I saw this. She's expecting twins and is planning on cloth diapering them. I hope it helps!

Prefolds are kind of what Gerber sells as cloth diapers - only much more absorbent than Gerber (don't get Gerber for diapering). Prefolds usually go with a diaper cover and are a cheaper option. Pocket Diapers are in the middle and all-in-ones are the most expensive. Babies R Us sells pocket diaper starter packs online, but if you're looking in-store, you're going to have to find a specialty store in your area.
I haven't used either personally, but I have heard good things about FuzziBunz' clearance page and www.diaperswappers.com (which has a forum that may help you with more questions).
As far as cleaning goes - I have heard many people who have used OxyClean Cloth Diaper Formula say that regular OxyClean works just as well, if not better. I just use our regular detergent. Make sure to do a second rinse to help rince off any residue the soap may leave behind and do not use bleach (it breaks the diapers down and destroys the absorbency). The best way to get yucky spots out (and there will be yucky spots...) is to hang them in the sun and sun-bleach them.
Let me know if you have any questions - I'd love to help! Good luck!
