FuzziBunz and babies

I made my first cloth diaper purchase!! I've never been more anxious hitting the submit order button as I was for this purchase. It's a lot of money to possibly have it not work out. There are just so many different kinds of diapers and way more brands than I ever imagined. I added a links bar on the left and included some of my new favorite cloth diapering sites. Check them out if you're interested!

So you're probably wondering what I bought, right? Well I bought a one size FuzziBunz pocket diaper. It's like an all in one diaper in that it doesn't need a separate cover. I bought some hemp inserts which go into the pocket of the diaper and absorbs the liquid. I read a lot of reviews and it sounds like the one size diaper fits chunkier babies better than the sized ones do. We'll see! I also bought a diaper sprayer which attaches to the toilet. I'll be able to just rinse off the soiled diapers into the toilet. It'll work great for soiled clothes as well! Once I buy more and get started, I plan on doing a whole cloth diapering post with more information. I'm going to buy some prefolds and wool covers and possibly some fitted diapers. I almost made a purchase from Lovey Bums, but I stopped myself. I want to wait and see how the FuzziBunz works for us. It already shipped and I can't wait to try it out! I hope Jack is excited too!

The moms meetup group that I belong to had a summer kick-off bbq today. It was very warm, but the family who hosted has a great backyard and the sun wasn't on us at all. We just laid out a bunch of blankets and the babies played and moms (and dads) chatted and ate yummy food. Jack wasn't the youngest this time and there were more babies around his age. It's always interesting to see the older babies and get a feel for what Jack will be up to in a couple of months. A month or even a couple of weeks can make a big difference though.

These babies are 6 months old and just starting to sit up on their own. They are looking very good! While we were there Jack was practicing his own sitting skills, and he actually sat up without using his hands for support! It was the first time he's done that. He was too wobbly for me to get a picture though and I didn't want to risk him falling over.

This baby is 11 months old and recently got his first 2 teeth (recently meaning sometime in the last 2 months!). His mom said that he started cutting a tooth at about 5 months and it's still there (next to these two and I could see it), but it still hasn't come all the way through yet. Weird! I'm betting Jack still has a couple of months before we see a tooth which is okay by me.

And I just love this red-haired guy! He is also almost one year and is going to take his first steps any day now. Another boy (the oldest at 13 months) just took his first 2 steps this morning! It's really cool getting to watch these babies grow and change.

It's so nice to be a part of this group and meet so many wonderful moms and babies. It can be hard to put yourself into a new situation, but I'm so glad I signed up and went to the first event back in September. It's great for both Jack and I to get out and socialize!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Father's Day. My dad and I are taking Jack to the park in the morning to do a 6 month photo shoot. I may do professional pictures over 4th of July weekend, but if these turn out good then I'll save the money and wait until his first birthday. It's nice having someone around who knows what they're doing and can take good pictures!

I love my mom's meetup group as well! I'm jealous that yours has a lot more babies than mine, though!

Good luck with the FuzziBunz!! Who knows - if you have a great experience maybe we'll make the switch also!
