Bath Time!

Jack has an infant to toddler bath tub that we use for his baths. It came with a newborn support that clips on and supports the baby in the tub. It reminds me of a hammock.

Jack is getting so big these days (I weighed him yesterday with me holding him and apparently he's 20 pounds! Holy cow- it has to be a mistake!) and when he lays in the tub, he weighs down the insert and it was starting to look a bit uncomfortable. Plus he's also getting too long for it so I decided to take it off. I laid him in the tub without water and with clothes on just to make sure it would be ok. It seemed perfect! Tonight we had our first bath without it and it was great.

His legs were able to be in the water and he could kick and splash a little bit. I kicked his legs around for him so he could get used to splashing and I think I had more fun than he did! But he definitely liked it better and seemed to really enjoy the water. Bath time was a lot more fun for both of us. Next up: bath toys! :) I'm also planning on doing mommy and me swim lessons soon so this is a good way to get him more acquainted with water. I can't wait to take him to the pool!

Jack has been loving his fingers and hands for awhile now and constantly has them in his mouth. I noticed yesterday that he was actually sucking his thumb. He would find it once in awhile, mostly by accident, but he's getting more control now and I'm noticing more thumb sucking.

Since he doesn't take a pacifier, I'm all for him being able to self-soothe by sucking his thumb. I also think it's completely adorable, but ask me again in 2 years and I'll probably think differently of it!

Since Jack rolled over those 2 times last week, he has yet to do it again. It's interesting- for more than a week he would lean way over to one side and look like he was really trying to roll over. Then he did it. Twice. Now he doesn't really lean or look like he's going to roll over. It's as if he accomplished his goal and no longer has any interest in it. He's moved on to the next battle. He does regularly get himself onto his side though.

Time is going by so fast. Jack is growing rapidly and I'm trying to take it all in and enjoy every moment. He can now easily sit up with help and hold his own head up. I'll try and get a picture of that this week. It's crazy! I'm amazed by how strong he is. I seriously need to start baby proofing because one day I'm going to turn around and he'll be crawling! My baby is growing up and sooner than I expected! It's also way more exciting and fun than I ever expected. I completely enjoy my life as Jack's mom and love him so much!

Ava did the same thing with rolling - she did it and must have felt content with knowing she could, because she definitely doesn't do it consistently.

Isn't baby splashing adorable? Ava LOVES bathtime!

How old is Jack now?? I forgot... and thought you had a ticker...hmmmmmm prego mind still? haha. Anyway, Bennett LOVES bath time and he LOVES to kick and splash around. The bathtub that we got at the shower has a little bump for his little bum to sit on but I worry that he will kick himself off while splashing around so I bought another one with just a sort of meshy "chair" thing to lay against... but that bathtub is impossible to lift out of the tub so who knows what we'll do next. There is so much trial & error with baby stuff!!! Your pictures and posts are wonderful. Thank you for sharing Jack with us!

Isn't thumb-sucking adorable?? Haha, when he does find it does he make a loud sucking noise ??
