He kept doing this thing with his tongue all day on Saturday and some on Sunday. I'm pretty sure it's related to his new teeth. Whatever it was, it was really adorable!
Our friend Declan turned 1 on Sunday, and Jack and I were lucky enough to be invited to the big event. It was Jack's first party! Declan's mom and I met through my mom's group back when I was pregnant and Declan was only 3 months old. It's been great to watch him grow from the beginning. There were 3 other babies and moms from our group as well. It was nice to see some familiar faces and we had a great time. The weather was perfect and we were nice and shaded under a pavilion. I'm thinking I'll have Jack's party at one of the local baby gyms, since it'll be too cold to be outside. I have a few months, but I'm already thinking about what I want to do!
Before the party
Declan and his mama Angie
They set up this baby play space for all the little ones. There were 8 panels that formed a big square. It was wonderful! I really wish I had room for something like this in my house.
The birthday boy!
There was a playground right next to the pavilion. Jack loves to swing!
Getting ready for cake
By the end, he had frosting everywhere!
I'm so glad we were able to go and enjoy the festivities. It makes me even more excited for Jack's party later this year. I've already been researching cake recipes and have some ideas of what I want to do. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself though!
While Jack napped, I made some yummy food for him. I made up a batch of peaches and pears, both thicker than before. I also made him some plumcots. What is a plumcot, you ask? It is a hybrid fruit that is 1/4 plum, 3/4 apricot. It is delicious!! I'm not going to give it to him until next week, but I'm so excited for him to try it. I'm going to have to buy some more for both of us.
Jack hasn't shown any signs of crawling yet and doesn't seem to have any interest in standing (I'm not complaining!), but I'm taking Friday off of work so that I can stay home and do some serious baby-proofing sans baby. I asked Angie if Declan got up onto his knees for awhile before starting to crawl, and she said only for about a day or two and then he just took off! That scares me, because I figured I'd have some warning. Every baby is different but I'm not taking any chances. I'm looking forward to having a clean, baby-friendly home!

I have been thinking ahead to the big 1st birthday too..it's way too cold here for outdoor festivities. We can still do cake, though!
You are such a great Momma!! :)
I read these blogs and I think Man... these Moms are really with it and I feel like I am just a total mess. Agh, once we move, that is going to change! I am going to be with it! :)

Adorable! Looks like you guys have a great mom's group in your area. Ava is attending her first 1st birthday party this coming weekend - exciting! Too bad my social life isn't nearly as exciting :P
