5 Months!!

Jack, you're 5 months old today! Holy cow! The time has gone by way too fast, but I also can't believe it's only been 5 months. You keep getting cuter and cuter and somehow, I love you more and more everyday. I don't miss the newborn stage at all. Each stage is better and more fun than the last. I might not be saying that when you're 2, but for now it's very true! I love watching you grow and learn new things. It's very exciting and brings me so much joy! You are the best baby and I am so lucky I get to be your mom. I love you very much. Try to stay little just a while longer, okay?

Enjoy some pics from our 5 month photo shoot:

I got the blocks to stay on his tummy long enough for this one picture!

At 5 months, Jack:

*is wearing 6-9 months clothing and size 3 diapers.
*is eating 6 times a day (occasionally 7 - 3 bottles and 3 or 4 nursing sessions) and is only getting up once or twice a night.
*is a supported sitter and can sit up on his own for very brief periods.
*babbles, squeals, and makes all kinds of sounds. It's super cute!
*is ticklish on his feet, thighs, ribs, underarms, and neck. I love making him laugh!
*stares and observes his hands constantly. He knows they're his and he is figuring out what he can use them for.
*is not reaching for and grabbing objects, but he is getting closer. He waves his hands around and anything that comes into contact with them, he grabs. If he wants something, he feels around and hope it gets into his grip. It's really cute and I love that he has learned this. I'm looking forward to the day he puts it together though, and is able to reach out and purposefully grab the thing he's after.
*put almost everything he can get his hands on into his mouth.
*is not rolling over consistently, but I'm in no rush for him to start moving around!
*loves the water and kicks and splashes in the bath. He also doesn't mind water going over his head.

One more thing I'm very proud of is that up until today, Jack has not had anything other than breastmilk. I made it 5 months!! Woohoo! Starting today, Jack will now have a little cereal every night and eventually morning and night. But he'll still get only breastmilk for his meals. I'm hoping to make it one more month and then I may start supplementing with half formula. It'll all depends on how he does with the solids and how fast my freezer stash diminishes (I only have about 30 ounces). I know I can do another month!

Our first solids feeding was a success. I'm going to write a separate post on it, so stay tuned!!
