One thing that gets me is Jack's memory. I'm amazed with what this kid remembers. We went to our local Whole Foods on October 21 to meet Super Why. I posted it as a Wordless Wednesday. Jack was really excited to see him and wasn't scared at all. We went this past Sunday to pick up a few items (including cookies!) and it was the first time we had been back since seeing Super Why, so more than a month. It was a gorgeous day so we sat outside to eat our cookies. When we were outside, Jack looked around and said, "Super Why?" He remembered that we had been there to see him. I couldn't believe it!
Jack likes to take a toy with him to bed. Usually it's a small car or truck and he can only have 1. Usually it falls out of his hand after he's fallen asleep and I'll take it and put it on the table. He never cries when he wakes up. Instead I'll hear him bouncing around calling out, "mommy, mommy, mommy" until I answer him. But one morning all he kept saying was, "firetruck?" because I had taken the firetruck from him after he fell asleep. And if he's not looking for his toy right away, he'll look for it after I've gotten him out of bed. He remembers the exact vehicle he had and will ask about it until he either finds it or I give it to him.
He's very good about helping clean up. He knows where things go and he now sings the clean up song as he's putting his things away. Sometimes he's a bit meticulous and he'll take something out of one place to put it in another place instead. I guess he feels that it belongs in a certain place! We were at a friend's house playing with Hot Wheels. There was a carrier for the cars and when it came time to clean up, Jack was making sure the cars were all facing the same direction as they were being put away. I think he must get this from his dad! :)
Jack now wants to do everything on his own and refuses all help. This includes going up and down the stairs, brushing his teeth, eating, drinking, etc. He was having trouble getting his hat on and I asked him if he wanted help. Just at that moment he was getting it on and he said, "Jack help you." He talks in the third person, probably because that's what I've been doing. I'll say things like mommy's drink and Jack's drink instead of saying mine and yours. I'm trying to start saying I, me, my, you, yours, etc. more often, but I do think it's adorable the way Jack says things.
One night I was getting him out of the car to meet some friends. I needed to make sure he was bundled up (it was really cold) and that we had everything we would need. So I sat him in the driver seat and I said something like, "Jack can drive." I don't know if it was the next day or a couple days later, but Jack tried to get in the driver's seat and I said, "No Jack, mommy needs to drive." He looked at me and said very seriously and very slowly, "Jack drive." It was hysterical!!
His typical response to most things is, "Don't want it", unless of course he really does want it. I ask him everyday if he wants to go potty and this is the answer I usually get. I guess it's better than a flat out no!
I'm amazed at how well he can talk and how much he seems to understand. If I tell him what something is once, he knows it and remembers it from then on. He says 3-4 word sentences consistently. He's also getting better at counting. He counts to 14 without skipping any numbers now! He's also recognizing numbers. He pointed out a 4 and 5 the other day! And if he has 2 of something or sees 2 things, he will say, "2 cars." If he only has 1 car or if he has 3 cars, he won't say anything. He only says it if he actually does have 2. It's awesome! He does add an s to the word two so he'll say, "Twos cars." So cute!
Jack knows almost all the animals names and sounds. I'm always asking, "What does a (insert animal here)
He loves music and he sings along and dances. He knows which button to press on my alarm clock to make the radio come on and he loves it. Last night he was saying, "Sing a song!" wanting me to turn it on. :) He sings along to all his favorite songs and will even start singing on his own without any prompting. I have a great video of him singing Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. I need to upload it and post it. He recently started singing the ABC song and he does a good job singing along when he hears it. When he sings it by himself though, he only goes from A-G and then says, "Now know ABC's..." It's super cute!! I will definitely try to get this on video as well.
This is everything I can think of, although I'm sure there are a dozen other things I'm forgetting. He just does and says so many amazing and cute things! I really can't believe he's going to be 2 this month and I can't believe how much he's learning and how fast he's changing. It makes me want to hold on to his "babyness" for a little while longer!

Gosh, Jack looks grown up in that picture! What a smart, sweet boy you have! Presley remembers everything, too. I've found it can be a good thing and a bad thing, lol!
