We had his 2-year check-up on December 14 and he did great. Here are his stats:
Weight- 30 pounds exactly (75%)
Height- 34 3/4 inches (75%)
Head- 20 inches (90%)
He has a big head, but he always has and the doctor said he's well-proportioned. He's now drinking 1% milk, taking a Flinstones chewable vitamin daily, and can eat anything (no food restrictions, even shell fish). He really is turning into a little kid!
It takes him some time to warm up to new people but once he does, he charms the pants off of them! I get a lot of comments on how well and how much he talks. He says 5 word sentences now and fairly clearly too. I love that I can basically have a conversation with him now! Some of the memorable things he has said include, "Let me help you, daddy", "Oh my goodness", "Mommy little tired. Me too.", "Play trains, hooray!", "Helicopter fly high in the sky", "Woah, baby", and while opening presents he kept saying, "Wow, cool!" He also says things like, "Holy crap." At least he doesn't say anything too bad! We really gotta watch what we say now because he picks up on everything and repeats quite a bit.
There are a couple of things he does that I love and don't want to forget. One is he'll point to his own face or a picture (or sometimes mine) and say, "Twos eyes, one nose, one mouth, twos ears." I love this, especially how he adds an "s" to the word two. And he's getting so good at counting. Another thing that I absolutely adore, is sometimes he puts both his hands on either side of my face and he pulls me toward him to give me a kiss. I do this to him sometimes while he's playing and he randomly does it to me now. So sweet!
Every morning and night, we brush our teeth together side-by-side (with Jack standing on his stool). In the middle of brushing, he will lean over and lay his head on my side. Have I mentioned how much I love this kid? He's the sweetest! Speaking of brushing, he knows that to start off it is, "Jack's turn" and then when mommy is done with her teeth it's "mommy's turn." He's been pretty good about this and we both win. He gets his time to bite on his toothbrush and I get my time to make sure his teeth are nice and clean. Lately he has been hesitant to give up all control so when it's my turn, he holds the toothbrush and helps me and we do it "together".
Speaking of "together", I think that is one his new favorite words. He loves lining up his toys whether it be trucks, cars, trains, magnets, or even packages of wipes (yes, he really did this with wipes!). He'll say, "cars together, mommy." And he likes them a certain way. If you move one, he will quickly correct it!
We had his party at Chuck E. Cheese on December 11. It was awesome!! Everyone had a great time, including the birthday boy. We stayed for close to 4 hours, including past nap time, but he didn't want to leave. He only got upset when I finally carried him out. Then he passed right out in the car! It really was a great party.
His actual birthday was last Friday and I took the day off work. In the morning I took him to get his 2-year pictures, then we met our friends for lunch at California Pizza Kitchen. We opened presents at home and ordered chinese food. I'm not going to always get pictures done on his actual birthday, but it's worked out that way these first 2 years!
It's so hard to think that Jack started out like this:
Then just one year later:
And now, at 2 years old:
He's grown into such a handsome boy, and he has hair now! :)
Jack, you are smart, silly, cute, sweet, inquisitive, and you absolutely amaze me. Happy 2nd birthday, my little baby cakes! We love you so much...all the way to the moon and back! :-)
