If you didn't already know, I'm a runner. I love it and I'm always looking for the next challenge. From March 16th-May 5th, I ran 6 races. That's 6 races in 7 weeks! And in that time Jack has run 3 toddler runs. I love that these exist!
May 4th was day 1 of the Frederick Running Festival. They had a kids run Saturday followed by a 5K, then a half marathon Sunday morning. Anyone doing both the 5K and half can sign up for the "Nut Job Challenge" and get a unique medal for being such a rock star.
The challenge interested me but I didn't want to pay $100+ when I was already running a half the week before. I guess it was meant to be because I ended up winning a contest that gave me free entry into any race that weekend! Without hesitation I signed up for the Nut Job Challenge. It was awesome and you can read more about it on my running page.
Everything took place at the Frederick Fairgrounds which is only about a half hour away. We went to the expo on Saturday (where I signed Jack up for his kids run) and then we just stayed for the races. It was very convenient!
Jack's toddler trot, which was about 100 yards, started at 5:20pm. He did great! He ran the whole way and he ran pretty fast!
Waiting to start:
Running!
The announcer was talking on a microphone and the speaker was near the finish line. Jack thought it was loud and he ran with his hands over his ears until we passed it!
Showing off his (very nice) medal:
At 6pm I ran the 5K, then we came back Sunday morning so I could run the half marathon. It was definitely a challenge but I loved it! I'm already looking forward to doing it next year!
Jack and I showing off my 2 new medals:
Jack has done 3 runs just this year and he's really getting the hang of it. I hope he develops a love for running like I have!
