Last weekend, Jack & I drove up to New York to go to my family's annual 4th of July picnic. We have a really big extended family. How many kids do you know with great great aunts and uncles? And not just one, but around 12. My grandmother is the oldest of 7 and the youngest (my great aunt) is only 6 months older than my dad. The cousins I grew up with are actually my dad's cousins, so they are my second cousins. Some of them have kids and I guess they'd be my 3rd cousins? Not sure what they are to Jack! I have a small immediate family so it's nice being so close with all of the extended family.
Makenzie (one of my 3rd cousins) helping Jack walk down the hill:
Jack & Kali (a family friend's daughter) had a lot of fun playing together in the sprinkler
This was my first time meeting Josh and Allie who are 2 1/2 year old twins (and more 3rd cousins)
Grandpa was there too! Jack loves his grandpa and it was nice for him to see a familiar face (but he did great meeting everyone)
Jack also got to see his great-grandma
Dyan, my grandma's other great-grandchild:
I had wanted to get a picture of Jack & Dyan with their great-grandma, but maybe next time! I also didn't get any pictures of the older cousins (my age and older) or of the aunts and uncles, but I was busy playing with the kids most of the day. It was great seeing everyone though and they all enjoyed meeting Jack. I hope we can go back for Christmas!
I also want to give a big thanks to Vanessa and Alexa for letting us stay with them. They've been here twice to visit and it was nice to go play on Alexa's turf for a change. Jack slept in Alexa's crib since she doesn't use it and he did surprisingly well. He slept all night on Friday, and on Saturday he woke up at 2:30 and I just let him sleep with me the rest of the night. Overall, not too bad!
Jack's first trip was a success! Next year I'm hoping to take him to North Carolina. I went to school in Wilmington and have gone back for 2 weddings since I graduated in 2004, but I'd love to have an actual vacation at the beach and visit some old friends. It's been too long!
Hope everyone has a great week. :)

What fun! It so nice to introduce the kiddos to the family that we know and love, but they have never met. Love the photo of Jack with Grandpa - too cute!!
That's what we did on our 4th weekend! Spent it at my husband's annual family reunion. Looks like Jack had lots of fun. I still can't believe you survived that drive by yourself!! :)
That's so fun to get together with family... and man, does it sound like you have quite the extended family. More fun!!!! Great pics, I especially love the sprinkler pics. :)
