I found out that Michaels does birthday parties and it was perfect! Well all they do is provide a room and someone to help out, but it worked really well for us!
I ordered a bunch of different crafts from Oriental Trading and printed Hot Wheels coloring pages. There were 9 kids total and everyone painted a race car sun catcher and colored pictures when they first got there. I also set up a tattoo station which was a big hit. After the painting, I gave the kids a race car sticker scene where you build a race car and a garage sticker scene where you design the layout of your garage. It kept them busy but they did start to get restless! Luckily I found a cool game for them to play. Similar to pin the tail on the donkey, this was stick the race car on the track!
After that it was time for cake! There were snacks set out too- chocolate donuts were "spare tires", Chex Mix was "Nuts & Bolts", pretzel rods were "dipsticks", and bottles of water were "fuel". I just made my own tent cards, nothing fancy.
Meme (my mom), Jack, and me. This was the first party my mom has been able to come to and I'm so glad she was able to be there!
We had the room for 2 hours and ended up being done about 3:40 so we just hung around and started cleaning up and clearing out. It turned out well but next year I want to do something that gets them moving more. The kids did really well with all the crafts, but they definitely started to get a little restless before and after cake.
The kids all went home with a Hot Wheels cup (the 2 girls got purple cups), race car stickers, a race car pencil, play-doh, and a Hot Wheels race car!
I think the birthday boy had a great party!
