Last Sunday we went to a fall fest at a local community. I wasn't expecting much. A couple weeks ago we went to a harvest festival that cost $10 per car (very reasonable!) but the more fun activities cost extra- pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, etc. We rode the hayride, picked potatoes, and did all the free activities. I hadn't planned on the other stuff costing money and we only had enough to cover lunch. Jack didn't seem to notice and he still had fun. But I left disappointed.
This fall fest was free and they had a lot of fun activities listed on their flyer. I was wary, but everything turned out to be free (minus food and face painting)! And the atmosphere was great. It was a warm sunny day and we had a ton of fun.
Jack and his pumpkin:
I glued the eyes on and he drew the mouth. It already had what looked like a nose!
Even Tigger made an appearance!
There had to be 5 different inflatables and Jack tried out 3 of them. One was a train that you walked through, jumped on, and played in. One was a pirate ship, and one was your everyday moon bounce. He loved them! Luckily a whistle was blown whenever time was up so the next group of kids could go in. Otherwise I would've had to carry him out kicking and screaming!
There was a horse-drawn hayride which I loved! We got to sit right up front and at one point the horses started galloping. It was so fun and I loved that we got to experience a different kind of hay ride.
Walking back to the car, Jack wanted to stop and look at the "beautiful trees". :)
We even made a scarecrow (my first one) and here it is on our front porch! A lot of people there asked where I had found the small clothes and they had been in the pile with all the others. I figured it'd be easier and cuter to make a small one. I don't know that it was any easier, but it's certainly cute!
I think we're going to carve pumpkins this weekend and hopefully Jack will get a chance to wear his Halloween costume at 1 or 2 events. I love this time of year!

Some of those "fall" attractions are so expensive and it sort of pisses me off. :-P But, good job on finding the free one !!! We also found a local free one that was awesome. :) We will definitely be repeat visitors!!! We've already gone 2x this year. :) Great Scarecrow!!!! I have never made one. What do you stuff it with??? Can't wait to see Jack in all of his Spiderman glory!!!
Don't you love all the fun fall activities?!? I'm very impressed with the scarecrow, as well.
I love the pumpkin you and Jack made! I totally agree about some fall fests being a bummer. We went to one a few weeks ago and even though there was an admission fee almost everything cost extra. I left very disappointed {even though Asher had a blast} - hate feeling nickel and dimed!
Way to go finding a 2nd festival to enjoy. This one looked so great!!
