Despite the rising temperatures, August is one of my favorite times of year. Why? The county fair! There's so much to do and it's especially fun now that I can bring Jack. The cost of admission and parking can get ridiculous so we only went once. We didn't get to do everything I would have liked but we had a blast!
Checking out the tractors:
Riding the trolley:
We also saw the animals, enjoyed grilled cheese sandwiches and ice cream, and Jack got a fireman hat.
This year we also did something none of us had done before. We went to the monster truck show! It doesn't start until 7:30 and last year that was too late for a 1 year old Jack who went to bed at that time. But Jack usually doesn't fall asleep until 9 now and besides, you gotta break the rules now and then! Jack loves monster trucks and since before the show he's been telling me he wants a big monster truck birthday cake. I knew he'd love the show!
Waiting for the show to start:
Being introduced to the trucks:
Obstacle course:
Watching the action:
A fire-breathing T-Rex who eats cars (this part was a little scary for Jack at first, but he got over it quickly!):
We left a bit before 9 since we still had to make our way through the fair, out to the parking lot and then to our car which was a good quarter mile away. On the way out I asked the attendant how long the show was and he said it ended at 10:15! Holy cow! With it being a week night and us having to get up early the next day, there was no way we would've made it. But we enjoyed what we saw!
This is the 3rd year we've all gone to the fair. The first year Sidney took a picture of Jack and I in front of a garden. When I saw it last year I remembered it and said we needed another picture. So now it's become tradition. Here we are back in 2010 and again this year. Big difference!

That looks like SO much fun! I love the photo of the 3 of you - great family shot. Asher loves to play with monster trucks, I bet he'd be over the moon if we saw some in real life.
