Sidney's Birthday

Sidney's birthday was on September 21st and I planned a surprise picnic lunch for us. The picnic lunch was no surprise but where we were having it was. I had never been to this particular park but had been wanting to go for a couple of years now. Finding it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, but it turned out to be a great place to have our lunch!

So where did we go?

Gravelly Point Park in Washington, D.C! It's right next to national airport and it's a great place to watch the planes take-off and land. I was afraid the sound would be too loud for Jack, which is why we never went when he was younger. It wasn't a problem at all and it was a lot of fun!

We only saw 1 or 2 planes take-off but I was very surprised at how many planes landed  while we were there. It was literally one right after the other!

We brought a soccer ball that we kicked around a bit after we ate. There were quite a few people walking and biking along the Potomac River. If it hadn't been so hot and we had been wearing shorts instead of jeans, we would've done more walking around. I definitely want to go back sometime and make a day of it. If you live in the D.C. area or if you come for a visit, I definitely recommend going to Gravelly Point Park!
